If you already have experience of teaching/tutoring and/or hold a recognised qualification you may be exempt from certain parts of the training. You will need to complete an APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning) document, together with a pre course assignment. It is possible to APL a maximum of 20 hours.
In total this course consists of 40 notional learning hours which may be made up of: 10 hrs pre course study, 10 hrs classroom delivery, 20 hrs APL. There will be an additional 30 minutes per candidate for micro-teaching delivery.
The award is suitable for those who work or want to work as teachers in adult and community education. Candidates should be experienced/qualified in their subject area.
